Vanity Painted In Lichen Fusion Mineral Paint for Jeannie

I received a call from a customer with this beautiful antique vanity that has been in her family for many years. It was her Mother's and she wants it updated to fit into her beautifully designed home.
She chose the most luxurious green, Lichen Fusion Mineral Paint.
It's a muted green and a bit understated but is the most perfect green color.

Her vanity had some veneer damage to the side so I glued down the loose pieces and filled any of the missing veneer with wood putty and sanded it smooth. All of your repair work should be done before you get started on the prep...
It's so important to prep your piece correctly in order to have a lasting finish. You always want to clean your piece BEFORE you paint, otherwise you will sand the grime into your piece. I recommend using Fusion's organic TSP. Once your piece is clean then scuff sand with 220 sandpaper, then dust off. I chose to use a primer before painting because this has a cherry stain and that stain color is known to bleed.
I like to use a sprayer to apply Fusion to my furniture. It gives a very nice and professional finish. The only draw back to spraying is that it does waste more paint than if you were to use a paint brush. The coverage with Fusion is exceptional, you just need a few coats and you are done! Since Fusion is an "all in one" paint it has a built in top coat so once you paint then you are finished, no need for a top coat. I do however add a top coat when I am doing custom work. I like to use the Tough Coat polyurethane
Here is the side of the vanity where I did the repair, you practically can't tell anything was damaged!
I cleaned and painted the original hardware in Oil Rubbed Bronze
As well as the decorative piece that goes on top of the mirror.
I just love how this piece turned out! This was my first time using this color and now I am hooked!
The top is velvety smooth!
Thank you Jeannie for allowing me the pleasure of restoring this family heirloom for generations to come!

My customer was so happy with how her piece turned out that she had another one ready for me to pick up as soon as I delivered this one! Stay tuned for those transformations as well. If you have a piece you want painted but don't want to do the work yourself just send me a message and I can quote you a price on custom painting.

Did you spray the top coat on also or did you use a brush? It’s beautiful!!
It’s a gorgeous piece Annie! Your skills really shine through, especially where the repair is concerned. I bet your customer was thrilled! 😊
